A little .22 did the job. Don’t feel under-gunned if you can’t handle anything else. It’s better than a club or a kitchen knife. Actually, I’d have all three in the house ready for use. The nice thing about the .22 is that if it doesn’t stop them you’ve made it known you are willing to resist. That is much better than submission. Just because it didn’t stop them doesn’t mean the fight is over. Sometimes they run and sometimes the fight has just begun.
This is a work of art and so I thought I’d share the link for HK lovers.
HK P30 – I love this gun. It comes in many variations but the best part of it is the grip. Find a used one and you can get a world class work of perfection for not much more , $800 than a New Glock $550. You can get it with a safety that can go cocked and locked, or double action. Or you can get the version that doesn’t have a safety and operates first shot double action and second shot single. You can always cock the hammer.
HK VP9 – This is the Glock competitor. If you like the HK grip and don’t want to hammer and prefer a striker rent a VP9. It has a nice trigger reset and a nice trigger overall. It points better than a Glock.
HK USP 9 – Big Grip and too big if you have a small hand. Great if you prefer the single action method of function. The trigger is nice but you have to get used to the size of the grip.
Admittedly this is a two year old article but the wheels of government move slowly. If you notice, now the gun press has moved back to the 9mm as a good round for self defense, though not all them. Many writers who wouldn’t have considered the 9mm up to the task now feel that with the momentum moving again toward less is more theory notice what some of us knew all along. Simply, that 9mm allows more rounds in the magazine, punches a hole much like the vaunted .40 an .45 especially when expanding, and is much cheaper to use for practice. Also, the price and selection of weapons in 9mm outnumbers all the others. It is ubiquitous. The funny thing is that even the .380 is getting some good press now though it’s not my first choice for carry it does fill the need for weight and size when clothing limitations exist for concealed carry due usually to summer months. It also has a superb reduction in recoil yet still punches a hole like the .38 or 9mm, but not as deep with the same expansion. For that matter, I’m not against a .22 revolver versus carrying nothing. Often just the presence of a gun will inhibit action from the aggressors and you can’t defend against everything.
Just like the diet guidelines have changed every decade or so, the caliber guidelines for self defense and law enforcement handguns is changing again.
.38 Special – it was the standard for almost a century. The limitation is lack of firepower/capacity versus the civilian options after 9mm semi-auto pistols become common in various sizes.
9mm – This is the same diameter as the .38 special but it has less lead in the bullet but increased velocity making for more energy overall. It is configured to stack in magazines and feed in a semi-auto pistol. Limited defensive loads prior to the 1990’s and other perceived deficiencies came to the front after the Miami shootout. They probably should have considered that rifles tend to beat handguns every time and armed FBI agents with carbines or shotguns in their vehicles in addition to sidearms. Bureaucrats never see the obvious. Good ammo might have made the difference as well. The final item might have been to train them to fight injured since that seemed to be the final issue that caused the loss of the fight.
10mm – So then they picked the big boy gun but had trouble with control. It had a strong recoil that some shooters couldn’t manage well. Concealment was probably an issue as well.
.40 S&W – This should have been the ideal compromise except for female recruits it was still too much to handle. Some men found it a problem as well. I don’t like it for handguns either. It is too harsh and follow ups too slow. For a carbine it’s great. Try it in a Hi Power planet of the apes gun and you’ll find the 10 round limit doesn’t seem so bad with a heavy hitter like this.
9mm – Back to the past. With improvements in defensive ammo it may end up being the ideal compromise to include trainees having an easy time with it. +P and hotter ammo makes it closer to the .40S&W.
5.7mm – Were it not for the size of the gun it has even better numbers all the way around. Capacity 20-30 rounds. Recoil is nil. Accuracy is excellent. Energy is high and penetration is sufficient. Weight is low. Cost per round is no higher than .45.

Having just read the controlled pair article or what I deem a good argument against training only in controlled pair methods which are deemed superior to the double tap I prefer to use the garden hose method that includes lots and lots of ammo and sending it downrange while doing an exfil since alone the chances of winning against multiple assailants is a gamble at best, no matter how good you are. Luck and bad luck play a large part in most outcomes.Engaging multiple targets is an issue and usually the issue is that you F_ed up by ending up in that situation. What to do. Many experts will tell you many different things.
My thoughts as a survivor
I like the idea of dropping the first duck in the row and making sure of it while doing a hasty exit and laying down suppression fire to reduce attempts at others hitting you. The biggest problem with multiple target engagement is if they are spread along a nonlinear tangent rather than a linear front so that some have the oblique or can easily flank you with limited movement. It sucks to be you in that case. Usually the best way to save your hide is to hide or do the next best thing and gain distance after the initial engagement goes down and you survived it by laying into your main aggressor. The farther away you are from the group the more likely you can totally disengage/lose them or single out one at a time as at a distance the angle of attack again begins to favor the one versus the many especially if you can find a way to line them up by moving at an angle to increase the distance from one end of the group while maintaining distance from the lead end.
What does all this mean. You might survive if you can maintain movement while periodically sending a get down message to those in pursuit. I had to do this myself over the course of an hour plus at a full run over two decades ago while taking time to send some love taps at my suitors. I am here to speak of it.
Fruit Salad Definition: A mixture of various fruits or other mixture. A display of military medals. An assortment of ammo types in one loading.
Proviso: I’m a fruit salad kinda guy. I prefer options and variability.
Oh, and the fruit salad. Load up with an assortment. HP, AP, FMJ, and some subsonic. Do this for at least one mag so you have an all purpose tool at your disposal. I usually mix up ammo types as a matter of course for cost savings and also to guarantee penetration and expansion when needed by just sending a stream downrange as an assortment. Different sounds, different penetration, different expansion, different flash, and cost savings over high dollar HP. Just a thought. But experience has proven that in most endeavors flexibility is key. As long as it feeds, you can feed your attacker/s a steady diet of lead.
(If you want real cost savings, go for the first 3 -5 rounds per mag as Bonded HP and then just follow up with FMJ.)
If you wonder how it looks to see a country still going through the death rattle of multicultural suicide take a look at Germany and here are some links to confirm that finally now some of the somnolent horde known as Das Volk are showing a fluttering of the eyes.
If you can imagine their minds considering and pondering this thought, “Can this be true, are we really being attacked by those loving guests and new Germans.” Yes, oh yes. It is coming dear friends in Socialist Paradise and Multicultural haven of diversity.
I expect to see what we haven’t seen in Europe in almost 70 years and isn’t good newsreel footage what we all live to see as long as we’re not part of the show.
Just hug the new arrivals and show that you care and they’ll think better of you and maybe not strap on or go on a truck joyride.
Ansbach, denied asylum seeker goes postal or whatever they call it in Europe. He was an ISIS guy.
He was setting off Diversity Fireworks. Video of explanation.
He was just showing some good cheer to his hosts before the sendoff.
So, dear friends. What does this mean for the rest of us.
Shut the borders and stop taking in future threats, but that won’t likely happen unless Mr. T wins.
Next, keep training. Do whatever it takes to ramp up your skills in the area of firearms handling including home defense and concealed carry.
Finally, stay informed because simply knowing the threat and circumstances around you is an edge. Remember, we live for information and the lack of it can be fatal on an individual basis as well as for a culture. You are watching a culture die in Europe simply from the intentional disinformation indoctrination accomplished over the past 50 years.
Repeat after me. Diversity is our Strength.
How can you take a country from the top tier of economic performance and quality of life and reduce it to a third world pauper with the accompanying unrest. One good way is to flood the country with near voting age and military age young men and women who do not share the values of the new host country. Deportations plummet.
They call them children but these children are close to combat age and they are eligible for benefits that exceed those earned by retirees on social security. The last fact alone should be good cause for unrest, but the leaders also know that they can find a complicit media that will avoid reporting these facts.
The overall net effect of this operation is going to be a loss of culture and one that more closely resembles that of the country these future voters came from. If you want a clear example just look to California where a huge percentage of the population is not native or from the previous dominant white culture. It has become a socialist paradise complete with severe spending versus revenue problems. The tax rates in CA are now high enough that many high income working people are leaving if they can, and the state takes a cut even after you leave unless you can prove you’ve fully left the state.
Replace the Citizens with Pliant Supplicants
With the Calif. model you can see that the chance of a conservative free market Republican winning any state wide or national office have just about disappeared. This happened only a short 40 years since an amnesty for illegals and an ongoing flood of anchor babies becoming voting age foreign voters with an American citizenship.
Here you have citizens who are faced with threats by simply exercising their right to assemble and perform a civic duty. They are threatened by non-citizens and those fronting for them. In the end this may work against the protestors but it also shows how brazen they have become as their numbers have increased. Expect more violence and more intimidation by these groups intent on taking what they perceive as their right to retake America.
What can you do.
Vote to keep your conscience clear so you at least have tried the right way, the civil way to move the country in the right direction. Knowing that this won’t really likely protect you from what is coming do the smart thing and hedge your bets.
Get out of Dodge while you still can. This simply means relocating to a place where a less dense population exists so that you won’t have to run if things cut loose. One option is a Bug Out Planet. Just kidding.
Put away food. Use common sense and put away as much short term, medium term, and long term storage food as you can. Learn to grow food as a survival skill.
Protect your water supply. Have a well, have a cistern, and have stored water along with top notch filtration.
Store money in the form of precious metals and other hard assets such as arable land, guns, ammo, vehicles, and solar capability.
Train for your life. Condition yourself for foot travel with cargo on your back. Train in armed self defense, stick training, and if you are fit unarmed self defense.
Stay informed. Follow infowars, drudge, foreign press, various survival blogs, financial news.
To quote Matt Bracken during an Alex Jones radio show visit, “the tsunami is headed our way.”
Good Samaritan shot
What is there to say about this story but is it worth it to stop and help anyone. At this point I’ll probably just call for emergency assistance unless I am armed. It is a sad testament of the type of humanity out there that a driver in trouble would choose to kill someone that stopped to help them.
Advice: Be circumspect when you see a situation where someone is not in immediate danger or undergoing trauma. Many times I have not stopped for people in a disabled car simply because I didn’t want them to fear that I was a threat, so instead I would call in their location and apparent situation after passing them and seeing that they were okay.
I’ve put together a compilation of articles and essays regarding why to own a gun. Most of these include sound reasons for gun ownership and will possibly give you the ammunition needed to win an argument on the benefits of gun ownership. More importantly, this may give you the reasons you might need to arm yourself.
Here is one of the best philosophical arguments I’ve seen that mirrors my own beliefs and encompasses some of the best thinkers on the subject of personal rights and duties as applied to gun ownership. Why the gun is civilization.
Here is another one from Calguns on why guns are necessary for a civilized society.
I have my own preference for pocket carry and recently have moved to a Sig Sauer P238 in .380 as my favorite to shoot and most accurate with minimal recoil, light weight, and small size. My second in line is the Kahr CW9 since it has the hotter 9mm round. It is a bit heaver and larger but the extra punch of the 9mm really makes a difference for confidence in self defense situations. I also have a Smith and Wesson Model 642 .38 special revolver that I like for a jacket pocket in the winter where its size and weight seem less concerning and it makes for a great great vehicle concealment gun for reliable and fast access if needed. (Of course, this is only for places where it is legal to have one on you or in your vehicle in close proximity.)
Here is a video that somewhat parallels my suggestions.
